Jay Nathaniel Watty (aka “DJ Lil Jay.”) was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He began making his own music at the tender age of 10 when discovering his father’s turntables in his basement. Perfecting his craft throughout his teen years, he started DJ’ing for Middle School Party Tours, artist such as B5, releasing his first CD (Operation: Playtime) and DJ’ing at the hottest clubs in Baltimore. Furthering his career, at the age of 20 he moved to Los Angeles where he received his degree in the arts of recording science and began DJ’ing at bars and clubs.
Quickly diving into the L.A. music scene, he started DJ’ing at LATalk Live Radio, which led to opening up for DJ’s such as Sosupersam, DJ Mustard, and DJ Sin City. He has played at Supperclub and Club Marbella for NBA celebrity Ron Artest, Guess Hotel, HardRock Mansion and The Escape House for artist Rye Rye at Coachella 2012, The Graduate, Libertine and countless others. Using his other talents with radio as a on-air Dj/personal, Master P, Too Short and David Sebastian are few names he has mixed and engineered for. Watty has been featured in The Baltimore Sun, The Seattle Weekly, and Dusted Magazine to name a few.
Watty has released several remixes and edits that gravitate toward the masses. Influenced by Jazzy Jeff, Kid Capri, Gandmaster Flash, DJ AM, Diplo, and Daft Punk, he is know for mixing and combing all genres of music. The love he has for hip hop, r&b, pop and House in addition to his technical scratching skills allow him to seamlessly play at any venue. His persona behind the turntable is what appeals him to the crowd. With his magnetic energy and dancing skills you’re guaranteed to have a great time.
